Are my CRIES heard???

In our lives, we must all have encountered times of desperation. Sometimes, it can be forgetting your keys and anxiously wondering how you will get into your house again OR it can be something as serious as waiting to hear the results of a surgery. Whatever it is, it can be very overwhelming that even those of us who struggle with our relationship with God, can’t help but call upon his mighty name.

According to Psalms chapter 57 verses 1 to 3, when our hearts are filled with fear, dread or even anxious hope; crying out to God may seem like the only thing to do as well as it being the only option we have. But we should remember that we are not alone in this.

The Bible is filled with stories of people crying out to God in desperation and feelings of hopelessness. When reading about how people poured out their emotions to God, there is an important truth that begins to be revealed to us ~ the Father hears them. He hears each and every one. You see, God HEARD Moses — yes he HEARD his cry of anguish in Exodus chapter 17 and he HEARD his people’s cry to deliver them in Judges chapter 3. And so now — he HEARS YOU whenever you cry out to Him in great need.

In fact, he WANTS all of his children to cry out to him. He WANTS all of us to call upon his name when great burdens weigh upon our hearts. And so when we are unsure of what to say to him, HE sends us his holy spirit to intercede the message of our hearts.

On that note, we should begin to realise that there is a key difference between our prayers and our cries to him. In prayer, we bring many things to our father at once; listening to what he has to say to them and emptying our hearts before his throne. However, our time of crying out to God comes when we are overcome with emotion to the point where we cannot help but call upon Him.

Dear Lord Heavenly father,

I pray that each and every one of us will always cry out to you and your name whenever we are in times of struggle and anguish because we are not alone for you are always with us and you are hearing our cries.

AMEN
